how we know the weather
Headed by the Baron Institute, “How We Know the Weather” is an exhibit at the US Space & Rocket Center that incorporates 30 interactive displays and experiences that answer the large question of how we read and know the weather. Our studio was involved in the design and production of four sections of the exhibit, including the The Power of the Twister and Hex Wall.

Electromagnetic (EM) spectrum section
With artwork and design assistance from Theory, this module allows visitors to see the different ways light spectrums interact with real-life objects and organisms
History wall animation video
Based on the client provided script and audio, we concepted and developed an animation describing the history of how we know and calculate weather patterns.
Hexagon radar wall display
With guidance from the client, Theory Studios sourced footage and designed the uniquely shaped videos that displays on the hexagon wall.
Power of the twister simulation video
For the exhibit’s state-of-the-art tornado simulation, Theory Studios was tasked with creating a fully 3D video for the in-room window display - showing what the tornado would look like from within the shelter. The full 3 minute video experience was made using a mix of assets, animations, and particle simulations to showcase the power of the twister storm.
